I won't say always but I know I've been using it since 1995 or 1996.
I'm currently using a version dated 2002 which works and works well
for me. And I've paid for it. There is no compelling reason for me
to upgrade yet.
And may never upgrade given that the NNTP protocol has very likely
been static for a decade or more and is unlikely to change much if
anything in the future.
Well, until MS decides to drop 32 bit support in Windows version
current+5 or current+8 or so. But that's at least 15 or 20 years
away I think so I'm not going to worry about it until then.
