Default Error Message in 2002 - 08-05-2010 , 06:31 AM

I just got a new computer. We loaded Office XP Professional (with
Access 2002) than we loaded Access 2007. When I bring up applications
in 2002 and click on a control button, a message reads:

"The expression On Click you entered as the event property setting
produced the following error: Object or class does not support the set
of events."

I presume the 2007 over-wrote some reference that 2002 requires. Is
there any fix for this? Thanx! Nance

This sounds like a registry permissions issue.

Details and workarounds in this article:

Allen, I went to your article but I'm making no headway. You suggest
3 options to fix the problem.

The first says "Start RegEdit". Sorry, I don't know what that is or
where to find it (I don't write code, I just use the Access
functionality)

The second calls for deleting the shortcut, putting a new one on my
desktop, then changing the properties. I tried that, but when I go to
the Advanced window, I cannot change the check -- everything is grayed
out.

I didn't try the third because of the potential security problems.

Please help!

Nance p.s. sorry it took so long for me to get back. been on
vacation.

Salad suggested how to get RegEdit going, but it sounds like you may not be
familiar with that.

The idea for the shortcut is to open the Windows Explorer (My Computer),
navigate to the Program Files folder (on C: drive), into the Microsoft
Office folder, and to the relevant version. To be able to see these folders,
you may need to change your settings in Explorer (Folder Options on the
Tools menu, then View.)

Find the msaccess executable file, and right-drag it to the desktop to
create the shortcut. You should then see the Run As Administrator option
(unless you are working in a corporate environment where someone has locked
this out on you.)
