Default Combining MS Access databases zz - 03-08-2011 , 11:48 AM

Client would like to be able to combine once or twice yearly data from
3 copies of a database into
a master copy of a database. They prefer to use the 3 copies for speed
reasons at other times.
Is this feasible with an Ms Access 2007 database and if so what
suggestions do you have for a
way to do this? The databases are using autonumber fields for primary
keys and each copy would
therefore have primary keys that could not be duplicated in the master
copy (I believe).

You could make a copy of all 3 databases and use the copies for your
merge. Change all autonumbers to Number/Long. Then append from the copies.

Are you combining the 3 databases for reporting? If so; link a FE to all 3
databases and use union queries to combine the tables for the report.
