I have not used the wizard before, but typically I build a form in
Outlook, have the controls etc that I want on it, and have it send me
a response email with the captured user input.

The subject / title of the email is identifiable (unique for each
survey if you like), and I simply have Access 'look' into the
appropriate mailbox for incoming emails, check the subject lines for
the right one, then if one (or more) exists 'read' the email and place
the data into fields. This is done with automation and the outlook
object model. This also gets around Outlooks normal limitation (in my
experience) of needing an Exchange server to do surveys with.

The catch with approaching this method is that the end user needs to
have outlook for this to work. If they are using something else then
the form and coding wont function. If you have a mixed group then
maybe it is easier to use something like surveymonkey (or another
online service) to conduct the survey and just send them the link.

Cheers

The interesting thing I gleaned from the demo vid is that it's done via
HTML and if the email program supports html it will work. What I'd be
curious is what occurs when a person enters in an invalid response, such
as N/A in a date field or a name in a numeric field. I'll test that today.

The other question I have is, will Outlook groan or complain on sending
out 1,000+ emails.

Overall tho, I think this feature is a breakthru for companies and
overtime will get better.

I was going to check this out but discovered that the E-mail wizzard
button in the app I want to use this with is grayed out and not
functional. Of course it's functional in the apps I don't what to use
it with. Any ideas?
Rick

Just guessing, you have an earlier version of Outlook or you have
Outlook Express?

As an alternative I like the online survey providers http://www.zoomerang.com/
and surveymonkey.com

I'm particularly familiar with surveymonkey and often analysis with
it's tools, but it also exports to Excel, allowing for easy import
into Access

Can you lock it down to people in a group or is it open to anybody on
the internet?

AFAIK you can open it up to anyone or restrict to folks with the right
password. The URLs are hard to guess and it has a handy feature to
email it if desired. I think surveymonkey still offers a free trail.
