Access versions later than A97 allow more than 255 crosstab fields?

A97 crosstab queries are limited to 255-fields.
Does any later version(s) of Access support a
greater number?

If you could, that would be the report from hell to design and read. Or

viewing in a form. Scrolling horizontally would be a massive headache.

The same could be said about an excel spreadsheet.
It often is. However, if using it strictly for logical data
lookups, it's a non-issue. There are many other ways
to tackle it. I just thought I'd ask.
