Default Access Versions - 01-04-2005 , 03:53 AM

Hi
Advice please.
As a full-time carer on a fixed income, I enjoy learning MS Access. So can
someone tell me, or explain, the best option as to which version to purchase
of MS Access? As I understand that some software no longer contains MS
Access.

I'm running Windows XP upgrade. Have an old copy of MS Office designed for
Windows 95 given to me many years ago. All legit and with Registration
numbers, but now need to get up to date with new software.

I don't use either Office or the Database for work or business but do need
to learn to use it for fun, gain another qualification or, obtain work.

Anyway, any help or suggestions would be greatly received
Many thanks
Al

They used to have names like Standard, Professional, etc but have a
habit of changing these designations with each version, look on the box,
it usually states what's contained.

Since you are buying it only for educational purposes, you can qualify for
the Education version, which usually costs about half and is not 'crippled'
in any way. Best Buy carries the Education version of Office Professional
(which includes Access), but you may need to go to a college bookstore to
buy the Education version of Access only. However, a college bookstore may
require you to show a student ID (?).

Microsoft Office97 Pro edition handsdown! Access97 is by far the most stable
and has the best and easiest to use Help file. You're going to have to do
some looking though because it is not the current edition.
