Default access shortuts following database - 02-22-2011 , 01:39 PM

we have a directory with an access database. One of the people put a
shortcut on their desktop to the database.
Well they wanted to do work on the database so they MOVED it to
another directory.
A little while later the person was in the database working.
IS there a way to turn off go find it thing in shortcuts?

Hi Sparks,

Your question is not completely clear to me.

One thing is the moving of the database, the other thing is the
modification of the shortcut.
What do you want to prevent?

You can check on opening if the database is in the right map, if not
then quit.
About the shortcut: I do not know.

Imb.

Sparks, you still here?

This sounds like one of the situations Tony's Auto FE Updater is
designed to deal with. ( http://www.autofeupdater.com/ )

Tony's Auto FE Updater includes an option (you have to add some code
which he provides to your front end) to prevent users from starting the
front end directly, such as what you are describing. Also, there is a
"lockout" feature which can be used to display a message to the user if
they attempt to launch their shortcut while you are in the database
working on it. Look at the [ Settings - FE Started by User? ] page here
