Default Access 97 Windows 2000 conflict - 01-06-2005 , 12:50 PM

My access 97 database worked great until our I.S. upgraded to
Win2000/Office 2000 in order to install a printer (Novell is running
too) and the machine was NT - and a USB port was needed.

After I found out that Office 2000 Pro was installed (YIKES - no
Access 97) we took off Access 2000 and re installed Access 97.

BUT Mail Merge (Word 2000) is flakey.

A button on an access form opens a word document with info from the
current record.
BUT first a second instance of Access 97 opens with NO info on the
form, so a Parameter box opens.

"sometimes" cancelling the parameter box will let the correct record
populate the Mail merge doc. so I can get the letter -

IS there a fix for Access version confusion? or whatever is causingthe
trouble? I have to close the second instance of Access, then move to
the next record and repeat the process.

Any Ideas? our I.S. department has a devil of a time removing Access
2000...
We just got five machines with XP and Access 2003 and Office 2003
Professional (with Access 2003?) installed - I would not let them
install the new machines until we can work out the Access version
conflicts -
ANY THOUGHTS or IDEAS??? HELP Please

Arthur

Upgrade your app to Access 2000. With all service packs applied
(including Jet SP8) it is a very stable platform.

Can't do it - I need Access 97 to use an extensive Access 97 program
shared by two divisions.
As well known - Access conversions from 97 to 2000 are frought with
trouble.
HELP PLEASE

You haven't convinced me, but in any case, Microsoft has a
knowledgebase article about how to install versions of Office out of
order. Go find it at search.microsoft.com.
