Default Access 2010 Property Sheet Slow (redraw resize) - 07-18-2011 , 11:19 PM

Both my computers at home have 2010 installed. When I open the
property sheet in layout or design mode and resize, it's entirely slow
to redraw. I can even see it redraw itself from top to bottom.

At first I thought my computer was too slow for 2010 (even though 2007
was fine). I just installed it on my new computer - an amd six core
processor w/ 8gb ram and it seems almost even slower :O

One is the 32 bit version, the other 64 bit. I have the latest video
drivers installed.

Anyone else notice this?

No. But each of us are given a special hell to bear.

Does this happen in a new database or existing database?

Is it just the property sheet that is the issue? Forms, reports,
queries, table design, code modules...they all open quickly?

Do you have other applications running? Temporarily close apps
running in the start bar or applications in the task manager one by
one and see if there's a conflict somewhere. Temporarily shut down
your anti-virus (grasping at straws here).

All the time. Whenever the property sheet opens or resizes the redraw
is remarkably slow. I've also now noticed the navigation pane
resizing, though it doesn't resize as you drag it (it just shows the
black bar), the black bar keeps flickering. At work on A2007
everything remains smooth.

Everything else seems to run quickly. Both of these machines are Win
7. The one at work is XP.

None of the above I don't think..

My guess is it has to do with the OS. I'll install A2007 and see what
happens. A2010's new features are not so great anyway.

I wonder if the 32 bit version of Access works on the 64 bit OS?

32 Bit works well on windows 7 64 bit.
Apparently the advice id not to use A2010 64 bit due to incompatibility
problems with Dlls. I understand the only advantage in 64 bit Office 2010 is
fro Excel wit very big files. Phil

Ok. A2007 is behaving the same way on this machine. I guess I'll blame
it on the video card - ATI Radeon 4250hd.

I can't find one other complaint on the net though.

Another issue I found was that I can't have both 2010 and 2007 on the
same computer w/o it initializing a new install every time I open the
other ie. if I click on 2007 going from 2010 it runs setup for 2007,
then when I go back to 2010, it runs 2010 setup.

I'm so sick of this bs

Slow redraw clears up when I put Win 7 into 'Classic' theme. But then
the buttons look wrong
