Default Access 2003 MDE error #3049 (cannot open database...): Could Access 2007 be the culprit? - 01-18-2011 , 02:22 PM

Hi,

We did a compact and repair on the clients database. I am not sure it
worked but this morning she is getting "Error #3049: Cannot open
dtabase. It may not be a database that your application recognizes,
or the file may be corrupt." when trying to open up a form within the
MDE (the data is in another MDB). It is also happening when she
presses a Save button on a new record.

I am sure we must have other clients that have 2007 installed. She is
opening up our application/mde using the Access 2003 shortcut icon
(pink key) that the install puts on the desktop.

The shortcut to run the application is (I removed references to the
application name):

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office11\MSACCESS.EXE"
"C:\Program Files (x86)\theapp\thecode.mde" /user "lusername" /pwd
"passwordl" /wrkgrp "C:\Program Files
(x86)\Lodge-ical\lodgesecurity.mdw" /runtime

And, a problem with a previous post of mine is now happening again,
but is new to this client ("The expression On Load you entered as the
event property setting produced the following error...."). There are
no problems with the references here. Only Access 2003 references are
listed in code references.

Any ideas?

Well it is starting to appear that the cuplrit for the #3049 error is
that a full version of Access 2007 is also installed along with our
2003 application/MDE. A 2nd client just had the same error and he too
has A2K7 installed.

No one here has any ideas, eh?

I spent hours searching the web and found posts for help but as usual,
no answers to the posts (with a solution).
