Default A2010: book recommendation - 02-10-2011 , 01:07 PM

I am just moving form A2K to A2010.

Can anyone recommend some good books? I am very conversant with A2K
and so want to find out how to do the things that are different; not
the basic stuff.

I realise that I need to learn about ribbons that replace menu bars.

One particular problem I have at the moment is how to create actions
for right button clicks on forms. These were handled by shortcut
menus and were included, not very tidily, within the creation of A2K
menu bars. How are these handled in A2010?

I will clearly have other issues and want a good, advanced book to
help. Something comparable to Litwin and Getz Access ??? Developer's
Handbook.

Good question. I went to B&K a few times checking out the books they
had on the shelf. That's all I'm reporting on.

I bought the Access 2010 Programmer's Reference yesterday. I saw Larry
Linson's recommendation on Amazon earlier. Albert Kallal is one of the
editors. There doesn't seem to be much focus on macros. Perhaps the
book Microsoft Access 2010 VBA Macro Programming completes it.

Initially I was going to go with Conrad's Microsoft Access 2010 Inside
Out. But I selected the book where I knew of some of the people. Both
books, IMO, are good.

I was impressed by Arvin Meyer and Douglas Steele's book as well. To
the point. Here's the issue, here's how it's done.

Larry Linson has a book out as well. Unfortunately there wasn't a copy
at the B&K I went to.

I would have bought a book if Allen Browne published one. Or Dev Ashish
but I guess he's long gone to other topics.
