Default 2010 SP1 Backward compatibility problem - 07-25-2011 , 06:39 AM

I created some forms in Access 2010 since applying Office 2010 SP1 and
those forms cannot be opened in Access 2007 in design mode, it reports
that the minimum version required to change the design is 14.0.0000.0000.

This in itself wouldn't be a problem but I get the same message when I
try to create an ACCDE file in Access 2007.

Apart from rolling back 2010 SP1 and re-creating the forms, is there any
way to maintain the backwards compatibility with Access 2007?

May be a red herring here as I have done the above and that's solved the
problem for Access 2007 but am now unable to re-create the problem.

Although from my observations, the accdb file was stamped with
the .Version property of 14 rather than 12. Re-creating the form,
checking it in and pulling a new accdb from SVN seems to have reverted
the Version property in the resulting accdb file to 12.

Creating new forms in Access 2010 RTM or SP1 hasn't had the same effect
as before, although since fixing it the last time I have only done this
outside of source control.

I did notice the .AccessVersion property was set to 9.5, which is the
same as for Access 2002.

Yes, this was a red herring, it seems that if you put a control on a form
that is Access 2010 specific, it marks the form and accdb file as version
14, even if you remove the control before saving it's too late, the deed
is done. So beware of that if you want backwards compatibility.

The SP1 bit was co-incidental as it was the last thing changed on the PC
before the problem arose.
