Ingres 10 seems to be available for the usual range of platforms except
I see nothing yet for this version running on OpenVMS. Does anyone know
why this is ?

In case Actian decides to follow Oracle in abandoning the OpenVMS
platform then I would need to be aware of this as it would impact my
database selection plans.

I guess the main reason is that OpenVMS is typically on different
architecture - supporting a different architecture is always hard. I am
pretty sure they will release Ingres 10 for OpenVMS soon.
