Default Visionary must mean "seeing things" - 01-13-2009 , 02:03 AM

According to the Gartner Magic Quadrant report, MySQL is more
"visionary" than Ingres:
http://blogs.technet.com/dataplatfor...r/default.aspx.

I am sure Gartner is privy to the confidential plans of all the
participants, and this report is limited to data warehousing, but I
will still be fascinated to learn that Sun even has a vision for
MySQL. (It still couldn't explain why they thought MySQL AB (the
company) was worth a squillion dollars though, even at 0% interest.)

The assumption is that 'visionary' is good.

PS. If we make a new Ingres based religion, who gets to be Pope? Who
designs the funny hats? I vote for something with horns....I'm a
traditionalist!

Too much like "hallucinatory" to be accepted without
close scrutiny, IMO.

Well, as you know I am Old School, so I would rather have a High
Priestess. And it turns out we've already got one. She might even do
animal sacrifices if we offer up a dolphin...

And that, friends, is just one more reason why c.d.i. will always be WAY
more interesting than the official corporate forums! :-)

True, but I am sure Marty's interest is purely culinary.

Although I generally object to eating intelligent animals, I'm making an
exception in at least this case as this dolphin has lost all his money
on the market. Invested in drift net technology...poor bastard.

Ingres managers in their hundreds have now just typed in their credit card
number on the Microsoft site..

I'm begining to imagine that ingres DBAs have a uniform and it's made of
leather. It's not a pretty image.

STOP STOP STOP!

True story: I actually once met an Ingres DBA "a-clothed all in leather"
(as the song goes), and I can tell you she was a VERY pretty image. :-)
