All very interesting but:-
- why are Dell taking the all credit for the 300GB and 1TB results on
the TPC website?
- who/what is EXASolution??

My guess is that the system has been made by Dell. - They simply
installed good, old RedHat, and INGRES VectorWise on it, and got a
performance beast. INGRES does not, as far as I know, sell whole
systems.

The hardware vendors get as much from publishing results as the DBMS
vendors. The benchmarks are always a cooperative venture between
hardware and software vendors. EXASol is German and depends heavily
(AFAIK) on clustering - unlike VectorWise.
