Hey Johel,
I've been running Ingres clients on Win9x for years, connecting to both Unix and Windows Ingres servers. Clients include OpenROAD, Access, Crystal (odbc) etc. Ingres II is still supported and available from CA.
You should be able to connect from Ingres II client to Ingres R3 servers.

Unfortunately, if you want to run to Ingres Net R3, you need to upgrade your OS.

Paul

Subject: [Info-ingres] Win9x <-> IngresR3/WinXP

Hi All,

Is there a way to connect Windows native apps running on Win9x
workstations
to IngresR3 running on WinXP Pro SP2 servers?

I did all that I could related to ODBC and ADO. No way. It's a shame
for an open source product when there is no ODBC driver that can work
on Win9x operating systems! I would need to upgrade all Win9x to WinXP
just to install the R3 ODBC driver!! And before that I would need to
upgrade the hardware! That's crazy!

BTW, I like Ingres VERY MUCH and I'm very sad as it looks like I'll
need to leave it behind and go to PostgreSQL, MySQL or MSDE.

Thanks,
Johel
