I raised an issue with ingres support about 10 years ago about the same
subject. They said the same about a unique ascending number. But they
also warned about a problem of possible wrap around. So I'd better not
rely on that transaction ID of being unique, nor ascending.

It produces a unique ascending number, strictly in order, at least given
that each sc930 log file is from a single thread. Deffo, as the
youngsters say.
