Try something this:
UPDATE yourtable SET prod_date_offset = prod_date_offset - date('1 hour')
You can read all about date operations in the ingres manual.
Please check out "Date/Time Arithmetic" in the Ingres SQL Reference Guide
Chapter 4 (page 103)
Also please kindly note Ingres is spelt with one S.

Hello Sir/Madam ,
I am supporting one application where the data is stored in INGRESS. I have
a one field "prod_date_offset" which has a data type as DATE but value is
show as "6 hrs" I wanted to decrease the value by 1 for that file and the
final result should be 5 hrs. please let me know how to do that . that's
would be more/ appropriate helpful for me if you make the reply in another
1 hour.
