Hi L,

Not enough information dude.

Could you post the good and the bad netutil entries for us to
look at.

We have a problem connecting with a particular vnode in netutil. Has
anyone had any similar experience?

Thanks, L Jackson.

Software: netutil (IngresIINet)
Version: IngresII 2.5 (IngresIINet)

PC operating system: Windows XP Professional
OS Version: 5.1.2600

An error message appears, when connecting to only one of the two
IngresII 2.0 installations on a server. The other installation can be
accessed normally, so the problem does not appear to be with netutil.

The Ingres installation on the server which cannot be accessed is new
and has never been tested in this way before. All processes on the
server side appear to be working normally and the 2 server
installation configurations are similar (although some ingprenv
settings are different).

On the client side, the netutil vnode settings which fail to access
the new server installation are very similar to those which work
correctly for the old installation.

Initial message in pop-up window from client database query software
(Hummingbird BI/Query).

"Connection error 27436 E_LQ0001 Failed to connect to DBMS session.
E_LC0001 GCA protocol service (GCA_REQUEST) failure. Internal service
status E_GC2819 .. Unable to establish network connection: See
errlog.log for detail.."

We ran the Ingres mkvalidpw utility on the server (we have no evidence
that this made a difference). Ingres netutil then displayed the
following error message after entering login information (in an
attempt to connect to the server).

"E_GC2819_NTWK_CONNECTION_FAIL Unable to establish network
connection: See errlog.log for detail."

Errlog.log messages on the PC (one pair for each attempt)

"E_GC2809_NTWK_CONNECTION_FAIL Network connection failed for protocol
WINTCP, to node guik, port b6; status follows.
E_CL2781_GC_CONNECT_FAIL An attempted network connection failed."
