Default odbc on a unix box - 01-20-2004 , 09:13 AM

Hi all,

I have a client who is trying to get her Unix box to talk over ODBC to the
Ingres servers which are sitting on Alpha/VMS Ingres ii 2.0 axm/vms 0011.
She seems to be having a problem. My knowledge of Unix is virtually nil -
so any assistance would useful.

She wants to run a product ( Brio Query ) over ODBC - I've done this from a
Windows XP machine with no problem. The question is
does she need to have Ingres/net running to achieve this ? I thought she
did, but she says she doesn't want to. Also, her drivers appear to
be OpenIngres which doesn't seem correct to me.

Can I download ODBC drivers for Unix from the CA site ?

Any guidance much appreciated

Cheers

Andy

From http://fiscaff.sfsu.edu/FAQ/BRIO/BRIO_QUERY_faqs.htm

"Brio Query is a reporting application that can be used on a Mac or a PC.
This application is GUI-based, which means that queries may be easily
created using drag and drop. Brio Query results may be exported into
Excel."

Which means the product can only run on windows or mac (if this is the
product you mean).

Installing and running odbc from a windows client to an ingres server is, as
you say, straight forward.
