Default Ingres and .Net - 03-04-2005 , 04:57 PM






If anyone has tried to develop some aplication in ingres using Ms .net
platform?? My boss wants me to do it but I have to first gather some
informations about compatibility of ingres and .Net....Do ou know if
there are some wizards in visual .net to easy create dataSets and
DataAdapters??

If you go to http://www.theingresconference.com click Presentations, and
then do a full text search for .Net you should find a presentation from
the conference that has examples on how to do most of the things you are
looking for. Not sure about your .Net language of choice but the
examples in the presentation are in C#. There are also probably some
examples from previous CAWorld conferences that probably still exist on
the CAWorld web site.

And last but not leaset there are examples in the Ingres R3 Connectivity
Guide in the .Net Data Provider chapter.

I've developed some services (a.k.a. daemons if you're from a unix
background) in C# that used Ingres.

No problems so far. In fact, I've found it to be the smoothest ride when
compared to C, C++, VB.
