Grant,

Sorry about that. The server the sits between the ISPs NNTP server
and my Mailman server was upgraded and given a new address. I forgot to
point MailMan at it.

Fixed. I see them flowing through now.

The future is another issue. I'm going to lose access to my ISPs NNTP
server in the next two months.

At that point, I'm not sure what I'm going to be able to do about gatewaying my
MailMan list to USENET. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Just checking to see if this gets through – I don’t seem to be getting mailing list emails.

I'm not sure the mailman <---> c.d.i. gateway is working as there are posts on http://groups.google.co.uk/group/com....ingres/topics which never made it to this list and vice versa. The last info-ingres post I've seen that also appears in c.d.i. is reThink Migration – It’s Time for Change! posted 6 weeks ago. Perhaps mikey could give the gateway a prod?

It's important to remember that the relationship between different media
tends to be complementary. When new media arrive they don't necessarily
replace or eradicate previous types. Though we should perhaps observe a
half second silence for the eight-track.- There that's done. What
usually happens is that older media have to shuffle about a bit to make
space for the new one and its particular advantages. Radio did not kill
books and television did not kill radio or movies - what television did
kill was cinema newsreel. TV does it much better because it can deliver
it instantly. Who wants last week's news?

From what I've been reading most ISPs seem to be dropping USENET/NNTP.
I don't know if there are any free/gratis NNTP servers that let you
post, the ones I've seen are all read only. Which means paying for NNTP
access via GigaNews or a similar service.

It might be possible to setup an NNTP server that feeds off the USENET
server we use for the community forums, providing access for your
Mailman instance. I'll make some inquiries to see what can be done.
