Default [Info-ingres] RE: E_CL0654_DILRU_ALL_PINNED_ERR - 03-09-2005 , 08:19 AM

John,

system had been running ok till this morning when it crashed again. same set of errors though on a different table this time. While the system was unavailable to users I have got the file descriptors changed on the server from 256 to 1024. I'm now monitoring the system again.

Many thanks for your help.

Zoe

Hi Zoe,

I responded to your query about this error on the newsgroup, but perhaps you haven't seen my reply. If you have and discovered that my resolution doesn't work, then I apologise for sending this again.

The error E_CL0654_DILRU_ALL_PINNED_ERR is almost certainly caused by running out of file descriptors. You can either increase the number of file descriptors available in the OS (the ulimit -aH command will show you how manyyou have) - or alternatively reducing the number of file descriptors that Ingres will attempt to keep open at one time (by reducing the dmf_hash_sizeparameter in CBF) might help. The preferred option is to increase the number of descriptors available.

It doesn't appear as though you have opened an issue for this - I am certain that the support team in the UK would have been able to give you the answer to this very quickly.

Regards,
John
