Default [Info-Ingres] OpenROAD Code sprint Melbourne 1st day - 12-03-2008 , 08:35 AM

from

int

It was an enjoyable first day in Melbourne. After the scramble for network
ports and power cables, all delegates received complementary portable usb
hard disk drives which came pre-configured with complete working build
environments for OpenROAD 4GL and 3GL components and ingres. Other treats
for attendees included limited edition Jelly Belly Jelly Beans, conference
teeshirts and unlimited expresso coffee just down the hall.

Most things have run smoothly, Joe's team and the Australian Ingres staff
have put in a lot of hard work to make this a special event. I'm looking
forward to tomorrow so I can finish off the little project I started and
take a look at some of the other projects being worked on.

Special thanks to Andrew Clements and Adrian Hamilton of Peerless Foods for
providing LAN and Internet connectivity and for rushing in to loan a laptop
to Russell whos own laptop has decided to go on a sighseeing tour of
Melbourne. Thanks to Park View hotel staff for the high quality service and
yummy food and for digging up extra network cables.

Here is the first pic. When I work out how to drive this wiki thingy i'll
move it to a new page, maybe give it some borders.

Stay tuned...

Hi Paul,

Way cool! Have you been helping Joe with his Ozzie language classes?

G'day Mate

Last night we walked up Chapel st to have a Captain Cook and dig up some
tucker.

On the way, Chris was brave enough to approach a couple of sheilas to ask
directions to a good restaurant. I thought they might tell the sandgroper to
nick off but since he was fair dinkum they said "no worries". At least he
wasnt wearing his stubbies and thongs. Me being a banana bender - I wasn't
game to ask

Chapel St has a lot of eating choices. We decided against maccas and fish n
chips. Joe located an American Burger cafe and was taking pictures from the
footpath.

We decided on asian "Chillipadi on Chapel". The food and service was great
and everyone appreciated the amber fluid "beerlau" which came in stubbys.

By the end of the evening, we were all nackered. Joe had been up since 4am
touring down at St Kilda Pier. He says he was just out exploring I reckon he
was looking for some white pointers.

cheers

Paul

Ahhh, Ridgy-didge?

Fair dinkum, I remember going on a shark patrol at St.Kilda beach.
Sunshine, sand, shielas...whats not to like?

Knock back a few tinnies in the arvo at the barbie and were talking
heaven on a stick.
