why did they bother
With an entire suite of products, and in particular with Vectorwise
ramping up, and new products in the pipeline, it doesn't make any
sense to be shining the spotlight on just one. A name change was
overdue.

By the same argument the Ingres User Association probably should have
acknowledged the very large fraction of conference attendees who are
there because of OpenROAD and changed its name too, a long time ago.
Happily for me that's a question I will leave for the new chair! :-)
