Default [Info-Ingres] Ingres OpenROAD on Mac - 10-28-2011 , 08:41 PM

I'm getting acquainted with my new Mac and would like to try putting Ingres
on board.
Is there a recent distribution available or do I need to build like this:

http://community.actian.com/w/index...._ingres_on_mac
http://community.actian.com/w/index....he_on_Mac_OS_X
_(Leopard)

Also has anyone attempted an OpenROAD Empire build on the Mac?

Hi Paul,

Putting OpenROAD on a Mac!
That could be fun. But the 3gl is not Open Source, so I think it will be difficult.
Even if you had access to the source it will be a lot of work.

I think you'd have to build from source. It shouldn't be a problem if
you use current head-rev main. Are you on 10.6 or Lion? I run Ingres
on 10.6 myself with no problems. I think Daryl Monge ran into some compiler
or linker issues on Lion, not sure if he figured them out or not.

I would build it from SVN. The posted versions are getting pretty out
of date. There are some hiccups when building Kerberos in or building
the 64 bit version (my preference). I have been meaning to post some
notes but haven't had the time yet.
