Hi Everyone,



UK IUA is pleased to announce that the call for Community Award Nominees
is now open.



The UK Ingres User Association Conference 2010 8th June 2010, London
www.iua.org.uk



At the 2009 UK IUA conference the UK IUA presented its Community Service
Award to Rick van der Lans, author of the SQL Guide to Ingres.



The Community Service Award is given to someone who has made a
noteworthy contribution to the Ingres Community. The Ingres Community
consists of all users of Ingres, OpenROAD, and any of the related

products and projects.



Nominations are now being accepted for this year's award. Please send
your nomination with a brief explanation of why you think your nominee
deserves the award, to award2010 (AT) iua (DOT) org.uk



The winner will be chosen by jury from the nominees received by Friday,
May 21, 2010.

Martin, it is off-topic, but just wanted to note that there is no
information about the conference on the IUA website. May I ask why?

There isn't much to say about it yet, other than the date, the city, and
the theme. The call for papers will shape the agenda and the list of
speakers, and once that comes into sharper focus we will start marketing
the conference. The agenda in particular is our most important
marketing tool.

We did select our preferred conference centre last week but we're still
checking some of the details to do with AV and electrical safety and
details like that. If you want to stay up to date with the details as
they unfold we are experimenting with 'blogging'
(http://ukiua.posterous.com/) about the conference.

PS: I sent you a private message via the forum last week; I suspect you
may not have noticed it waiting for you.
