Hi all,

in our environment I get from time to time timeouts on excl. control locks
on tables. In my opinion excl control locks are only used in DDL
statements. But I am sure that the prozess I can identyfy from the errlog
with the sessionid never does an DDL statement.

The only thing I can imagine is, because it is btree structure on that
table, the ctrl lock is needed when there is a split in the btree root
information.

Is this true or is there any other usage of the excl ctrl lock??
