Default column encrytion feature available for testing - 05-07-2010 , 10:26 AM

Build 123 of Ingres 10.0 is now available on http://esd.ingres.com/
and is the first public release to support the column encryption
feature. For details please see the project page on the Ingres
community wiki: http://community.ingres.com/wiki/Dat...est_Encryption.
You'll currently find there a brief feature summary, and new
information will be posted frequently during product testing. Please
take the feature for a test drive and send us your feedback and
questions. With a handy decoder ring, or even better with the Ingres
unhex and (new) aes_decrypt functions and the name of a famous
database management system (and a famous painter, for that matter),
you can decode the following message:
C0406F1B41F9A9448A31ED64CEEF5A823E7EF34CE76E91E88A 15E3D5239401A1

Cheers,
MikeT

Note that the encypted message should *- not-* have a space in it.
Because of line wrap issues, you may see one. At least, that was the
case for me. Take out the space before you try decoding the message.

Brownie points to the first person who can correctly decode the
message. Post your answer to this thread.

Ingres employees not eligible ;-).

Very nice, Roy. An alphabetic rotation of the decrypted message to keep
people in further suspense :-).

I figure ROT13 is practically unbreakable. Nobody would expect
such a simple encryption ...
