hello all


the thought was to take a shot at a v11 in place migration without
doing a complete restore of secondary (HDR).

we are on v10.fc9 and are going to v11.fc7 running AIX 5.30 under a
HACMP cluster on partitions on i595.

thinking to just shut down the secondary server (not breaking
replication) and then after the conversion is done on the primary,
bring the secondary server back up (pointing to the new v11
environment but having it still think it is a replicated secondary
server) and see if HDR is successful.

any thoughts, comments, tips on this?

Just one comment, it won't work. You'll have to install the new version on
both servers in a new directory, upgrade the primary (shutdown, change
INFORMIXDIR and PATH to point to the new version, restart), take an archive,
and perform a physical restore on the secondary to upgrade the secondary.
