Is there any problem in backing up the instance during normal working hours ? I'd expect there to be some head movement on the disks which might slow down some user operations, but that shouldnt be noticeable. I'd just like to be sure about this though. |

No problem. Online backups have been supported for quite some time. "Jack A" <jacka8 (AT) excite (DOT) com> wrote in message news:2a56252b5fd6c265048ca0f4882b1a90 (AT) news (DOT) teranews.com... (why do people think that running 3.5 hours or so a day, as in 24/7, is so great? And 1WD wouldn't be as much fun as 4WD in a 4x4?) |

I don't think Turbo 1.03.0n (the predecessor version) allowed online backups, but I'd stand to be corrected by those who used it. The reason OnLine was so named was because it could run 24x7 (why do people think that running 3.5 hours or so a day, as in 24/7, is so great? And 1WD wouldn't be as much fun as 4WD in a 4x4?) and still have coherent backups performed. And there is the slight performance degradation you referred to - but it should, usually, be slight. |
