Default Upgrade options - 07-23-2010 , 02:54 PM

Current Environment: 9.4FC3 on HP/UX 11.11

New Environment: 11.1FC3 on RHEL 5, 2.6.18 kernel

2 physically different servers

Looking for the easiest and fastest, realizing they may be different
answers, way of moving from one server to the other.

TIA,

Randy

You can try to use dbexport/dbimport for an initial copy with ER configured
to keep the two servers in sync until the apps have all switched over and
you are certain you won't have to switch back.

I would suggest that you go for 11.50FC6 or later rather than 11.10.

You can't be serious !!!! :-))
Sorry, I was expecting 200 Gb !!, I assume that 21 'M'b wasn't a typo.
dbexport/import will be the quickest and simplest and should be doable
in under 30 minutes including zipping and ftp'ing between servers !

If the two machines can be on the network at the same time, we
generally do a database to database transfer.

Just add the new machine to your sqlhosts file.

Very fast and you can use SQL commands if your database schema changes
or you want to do any filtering.
