It's all gone crap again now :-((
Lots and lots of uncached writes.

Right, because it's gotten past the pages whose timestamps have already been
updated and now the archive is hitting very old pages again.

Yes, Keith pointed this out to me as well.

I think we'll just have to grin and bear it. We have been trying to convert
this customer to IDS 9.40 for almost a year: they are however in the hugely
competitive convenience foods sector - very high-volume/low-margin - and are
thus enormously risk-adverse. And since 9.40 has not yet released a version
in which the regression to a previous release works, we've held off.

Now we have a patched version - 9.40FC3W2 - in which the regression does
work, so we're now rolling it out. Hopefully over the long weekend we have
here at the end of May.
regards

Neil

We've got a 7.31x site under Solaris doing the same thing, normally
backup about 2 hours but once a month(ish) it takes best part of a week.
They are hitting the old page bug. They can't upgrade as they no longer
have IBM support, they just live with it.

We could sell it to them!

Pikey!

Indeed! I could throw in a bag of clothes pegs my mum made.
Anyway, you bought from us. If I'm a pikey what does that make you then?!

But I vos only obeying orders!
That and the fact that we had had about 7 "account managers" from
IBM/Informix in the previous year.
In various locations and offices.
Whose contact details we only became aware of when we were
(erroneously) refused tech support on account of them screwing up our
product entitlements and were referred to our "new interim account
manager".
None of whom knew what the previous one had agreed with us.
At least two of which were "no longer with the company".
One of these, I understand, had been brokering deals which netted him
full commission but left IBM/Informix in a very difficult position.
Gawd bless yer, guv'nor. I'd recommend yer to me mates, if I 'ad any.
