Default Shared memory problem - 08-07-2010 , 07:40 PM

IDS 9.40 UC4 on Linux (yes, I know ...)

1. Initialising the instance with a shared memory connection it just hangs
at:

01:09:26 Maximum server connections 0
01:09:26 Dataskip is now OFF for all dbspaces
01:09:26 On-Line Mode
01:09:26 Building 'sysmaster' database ...

Never does build it. And try dbaccess with a shm connection:

25588: The appl process cannot connect to Dynamic Server ifx_shm_2.
Invalid argument

Both initialisation and dbaccess work fine with a sockets connection.

I am sure that the kernel parms and SHMBASE are correct.

What could this be?

Hi Neil,

If you don't have other instances on the same box, try stop the instance, remove the "shared memory pipe files" on /INFORMIXTMP ... and start again...
If you have others instances, be careful what file you will delete...

Just for sure... re-check the "service" option on your sqlhosts....

Regards
César
