Same Instance Name Running on Seperate Hosts

This in my mind is a daft question but I have to be clear.

Can I have the same instance name running on different servers on the
same network?

The servers have different IP adderesses and host names.

Informix IDS 9.2 running On Sco Openserver 5.6 on both Servers.

Yes, as long as the other host/server is not shown in the sqlhosts file.
This is how we do our imported onbar restores of live data to dev systems.
