Uhm ... that will never happen. TPC/C is dead. Its being replaced with
a new benchmark.
The replacement for TPC-C is TPC-E.

D.A. Just because someone doesn't flaunt his credentials doesn't mean that he isn't here.

(P.S. It's not me, but they are here)

VARCHAR2 is a b****. Have you tried them?
But we should discuss these in c.d.ibm-db2, not here....
Cheers

Why - doesn't IBM think people should/would migrate from Oracle to
IDS
as well as DB2 ?
Au contraire. They should and they do. But Daniel wants to discuss
DB2
stuff and this is the Informix forum lat I checked. We're all mere
guests here....

Cheers
Serge
Lets see how that jives with history: Here are excerpts from your posts
in recent days to this very thread:

10/27/2007 "and DB2, and SQL Server's"
10/27/2007 "whether it's defined the IDS or DB2 way doesn't matter"
11/07/2007 "DB2 distributed revenue numbers."
11/07/2007 "I have no trouble believing that IDS outnumbers DB2 for LUW

in installations."
11/08/2007 "Neither SEC nor Analysts care for this DB2 vs. IDS
nonsense."
11/08/2007 "Only if it runs on IDS or DB2."

I only found two posts in which you didn't bring up DB2.
Pot = Kettle = Black eh.

It is not that "Daniel wants to discuss DB2 stuff" but rather that
"Daniel" thinks IBM should build those compatibility features into
Informix too so that Informix can be deployed under all of those
applications from which it seems it is being intentionally orphaned.

In fact one a reasonable person might wonder why someone involved
in "DB2 Solutions Development" is here but someone from IDS Solutions
Development is not. Don't you allow them out in public any more? <g>

Come on out to OpenWorld. With more than 45,000 people there no one
will notice your blue suit. <g>

Why is it that when I see Daniel's posts from the U of W, I keep thinking of
the scene from
Animal House where Dean Wormer tells Flounder "...son, going through life
fat, dumb and drunk is no way to live... " or something along those lines...

It isn't a matter of flaunting.

Mark Townsend, no matter where he posts, has the integrity to offer
up his credentials: So does Serge. Why does this mystery Informix
person feel compelled to hide. Are they shy or being censored?

If there is someone here that can speak authoritatively about Informix
please do so. To quote William Penn from Fruits of Solitude:

"Truth often suffers more by the heat of its defenders, than from the
arguments of it opposers."

Some here defending Informix are not doing you any favors.

Aw but Daniel,
You seem to think that the world is based out of WA (thats washington
state.)

I'm mean heck, its easy to confuse the fact that Boeing is now HQ'd out of
Chicago, since they didn't move all of their manufacturing to IL, but c'mon.
B of A is HQ'd out of Charlotte NC, and has operations all over the US,
including Chicago. Same of AT&T which BTW is HQ'd in central NJ.

When I bashed Oracle on their "global temp tables", I did so because they
are not really temp tables at all. Like I said, try putting an index on a
temp table when there's data in it. And note that while you can truncate
your portion of the temp table, you can't control what others do.

Yes Daniel, I do use Oracle 9i at the client. Why aren't they running 10?
Cause with Oracle, its painful to migrate versions.

Why doesn't IBM include more "Oracle like" features in IDS? Hmmm didn't they
do that with IDS 11?

Why doesn't IBM persuade more customers to migrate from Oracle? Hmmm. Ask
Global Services... And didn't you bring up the point that IBM was the
*largest* reseller of Oracle?

The funny thing Daniel is that I talk to a lot of people who are Oracle
bigots. They seem to be ill informed when it comes to what and where
Informix is running.

Thats not something I can do anything about. Nor is it my job or life's
passion. I'll admit I love working with Informix because its a well
engineered product. But I work with whatever products I'm paid to work with.

The bottom line Daniel, you're a bit of a freak who posts here without
knowing or using IDS.

At least I use the products I talk about.

Truly global then, obviously.
