You promote mysql or is that you promote 'NoSQL' databases? :-P
Seriously I know OTC was poking fun of me. And yes, I thought the teddy bears were cute.
Except for a couple of things...
I know why I choose to use HBase and how it scales.
I know why customers who use Oracle can't get it to scale well enough.
I know that HBase isn't going to replace databases which is why I kind of ping'd Keesee and wondered about XPS but since IBM doesn't do anything with XPS (Marketing , sales, enhancements) well
what do you expect?
Lets face it. XPS had near linear scalability back in the 90s.
But its a dead product. Sure IBM will sell it if you beg hard enough.
But again lets look at the costs...
Even IBM has stuck their toe in the water. IM (Information Management) pillar has a 'Hadoop' offering that is being lead out of IBM's Emerging Tech inNC Tri-Park where they are trying to give away their solution based on a 32bit Linux and IBM's JVM. (I've seen the JIRA's raised by an IBMer) ;-)
Oh there's more but I didn't want to spoil OTC's poke at me.
But hey! What do I know?
I didn't think MySQL qualified as a *real* RDBMS... :-0 ;-P
