Q1:

Check the BMC web site and SQLBacktrack package, it may work for you.

Subject: Clarification on Informix Backup on NT ...
Importance: High

Hello all,

I would like to clarify some queries related to NT informix backups. In our
Informix NT box, i need to setup the database backups & restores. We have
the VERITAS backupexec agent installed on this box and the Veritas master
server exist on a remote server.

Questions
--------------
1) I was told that there is no Informix NT database agent for Veritas. Does
anyone use ONBAR-VERITAS backup environment on NT environment ?
2) If i perform the normal filesystem backup with VERITAS for the Informix
DB, do i have to perform in offline or online database mode ?
3) Could anyone post the NT equivalent device path of say /dev/rmt/0 as in
Unix environment ?
4) How do i specify the TAPEDEV on this box since the storage unit is
attached to the remote master server on NT ?

Thanks

None that I've heard of, though others have wondered also . . . me.

In order to preserve referential integrity, backup the chunk files
with the Informix instance down. If you prefer to use ontape backups
to disk and then back these disk images using Veritas, then the
instance can be up while backing-up.

\\.\Tape0

I wonder if the syntax on page 12-6 of the Backup and Restore guide
version 9.4 would help? Something like:

host_machine_name:tape_device_pathname

So if your host was named kyoto, something like:

kyoto:\\.\Tape0
