Re: backup and restore -

hello all we have a level 0 backup to disk from AIX 6.1 and were looking to restore on a Linux x86 (red hat) server, infromix version 11.50.FC7. error comes up as "Physical restore failed - function read archive backup failed code -1 errno 0" can this be accomplished between the two different OS's? or is it a no go like trying to restore a UNIX backup onto a windows system restore? thanks _______________________________________________ Informix-list mailing list Informix-list (AT) iiug (DOT) org http://www.iiug.org/mailman/listinfo/informix-list |

No. *You can only restore on the same hardware, OS, and Informix version under which the archive was made. *The ONLY exception is HPUX servers are cross compatible between the PA-RISC and Intel Itanium releases if the Informix version is the same. Hello Art, at the moment i work with 11.10.FC3Xsomething on suse linux and with 11.10.UC3 on Suse. i can restore stuff from 11.10.FC3Xsomething to 11.10.C3... it does nag that it is not supported....it restores happyly!! i must admit i was baffled...
