If so, anyone can write on /dev/dbroot.
/dev/dbroot is file system.

What you mean 'anyone can write on /dev/dbroo'? I'm sure no file
system create on /dev/dbroot.
If root execute mount command, df or mount display as bellow.
output of mount
/dev/dbroot on /work type ext3 (rw)

I can open and create file on /work/test_tsutomu.
But /work (/dev/dbroot) was used ROOTPATH.

Quote:
my ROOTSPACE variabe only refer to a symbol link to real /dev/dbroot.
can i simply correct the symbol link to /dev/rdbroot w/o disturb my
data?
You use symbolic link, then I think it is simple using ln -s.

What I find funny is that all this has been
said without *anyone*; including myself asking about the configuration
(hardware/software/ifx version).
Because it's irrelevant?

My point here is that it is never *SIMPLE* to change something,
regardless of what *anyone* might say. This is typically one of the
things that *usually should* go without a
problem, but *sometimes* - if only because of a possible
(undetectable) hardware (combination) failure- they go horribly wrong.
No. Because there are set of fundamental principles about Informix and
UNIX/Linux that mean that, if executed correctly, this method *is* simple
and *will* work.

So I think I (at least from my part) will consider this little item
closed.
