Taken from DBTA magazine. Did I read this correctly? Does it mean that by year end Informix will offer RAC. ============================================= HDR, RSS and SDS servers and even ER can be combined in any way to provide a sophisticated and flexible high availability solution. If the primary server fails and, for example, a HDR secondary is promoted to be the new primary, the whole IDS MACH 11 cluster reconfigures itself. RSS and SDS servers automatically connect to the new primary. Informix also supports the encryption of all network communication inside a MACH 11 database cluster. IBM is currently working on the implemenation of the update functionality that allows SDS servers write access to the data. This functionality can be expected to be available by the end of the year. MACH 11 is an excellent alternative to the well known complexity of Oracle RAC/DataGuard. |

Mark, The only things that I know of which are going to occur prior to year end are: 1) IBM's OnDemand Conference in Las Vegas 2) Halloween 3) Thanksgiving 4) Christmas Anything else is news to me.
