Not exactly, but it is possible to override the engine value for each user
by setting the appropriate environment variable.

some of my jobs are very faster with OPTCOMPIND at 0 and others are faster
with OPTCOMPIND at 2.

With IDS 9.40.UC3, you should have the facility of setting the OPTCOMPIND
dynamically, using a SQL like SET OPTCOMPIND <>

You could wait till then!

The release of IDS 9.40.UC3 should be around 12/09/2003 - EGA (Electronic
General Availability), and 12/22/2003 (GA).
