Here's the latest article on IBM's benchmarking:
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2010/04/29/ibm_sandforce/
Unfortuntely the TPC-C benchmark was done using SSDs (MLC) using DB2.
My guess is that the guy who told you that they were going to do an Informix benchmark got his wires crossed and thought you guys meant DB2.
Shucks.
Either that, or some jackass wanted to start a rumor just to see what I'dsay. :-P
Haven't you learned that IBM only mentions IDS when they're in front of theInformix Community.
Jerry K showed a slide in a webcast a couple of years ago where they could rotate the slide and point it to either IDS or DB2 depending on the audience. Care to guess the default configuration of that slide?
Lip Service people. Lip Service.
"Hey Rocky watch me pull a rabbit out of my hat!"
"Bullwinkle, that trick never works... "
"This time for sure!"
Its from a cartoon shown in the late 60's and reruns in the 70's.
The point children is that IBM will say anything to keep you 'believing'.
So until we actually see a major benchmark released on IDS... don't believeit.
Unless of course you work for a company that uses IDS and gets a steep discount off of J level pricing. ;-) (And yes, I know who they are. :-P )
