Default INFORMIX FOR LINUX - 10-08-2007 , 05:59 PM

Hi all.

Where can i find STANDARD ENGINE for Linux?. It is no longer available at the software download section of IIUG. I need it only for migration purposes.

Thanks a lot

Cordial saludo:

I had the same query a couple of months ago.
The official answer was "Contact IBM or a Business Partner". I *am* a
Premier Busines Partner so that was a bit self-referencing!

In my case, however, my customer had a valid licence (although no
maintenance), and one UK distributor has a site where the software is freely
downloadable. So if you have a licence you could use that, but if you want
a genuine, licensed copy you'll have to buy it, or try to blag an
evaluation.

If you have the correct licences for the software you need you can
download it from www.informixcity.com. If the version you're looking
for is not on this site already, use the 'email us' facility and we
can try to get hold of it for you.

Er, yes, these are the guys I was alluding to in my reply. You have to
register, but's it's quick, easy and free.

I'd have thought that having all the media freely avalable somewhat defeats
the point of having media access resticted to those with Passport
Advantageentitlement and authorised trials only, but I guess that's a matter
for Bell Micro and IBM. It's certainly very useful!

Glad you find it useful Neil )

We work with ISVs and OEM customers, & generally customers with these
agreements do not have PA sites to download media from. We primarily
set up this facility to make it easier for customers who want to
upgrade from xc6 to xc7 etc. without having to buy a media pack and
wait days/weeks for it to arrive...if it helps out other informix
users too that can only be a positive thing.

We do require anyone who downloads to adhere to IBM's Ts & Cs, and
we're certainly not advocating anyone uses the software outside of
IBM's agreements. We can record who downloads what and we have this
information to available to share with IBM (I know you weren't
implying we were doing anyting inappropriate, but just to clarify the
point!!).
We're spreading a bit of Informix-love and making the products
accessible to the people who want them.
