Default ifx crash - 06-27-2007 , 11:35 AM

Hi!

16:18:27 stack trace for pid 7890 written to /opt/informix/tmp/af.b7d963a2
16:18:27 Assert Failed: No Exception Handler
16:18:27 IBM Informix Dynamic Server Version 10.00.UC4
16:18:27 Who: Session(1318859, xxx (AT) xxx (DOT) xxx, 382, 0x5ae03684)
Thread(4830193, xchg_1.0, 57bf0260, 1)
File: mtex.c Line: 435
16:18:27 Results: Exception Caught. Type: MT_EX_OS, Context: mem
16:18:27 Action: Please notify IBM Informix Technical Support.
16:18:27 stack trace for pid 7890 written to /opt/informix/tmp/af.b7d963a2
16:18:27 See Also: /opt/informix/tmp/af.b7d963a2, shmem.b7d963a2.0
16:19:23 mtex.c, line 435, thread 4830193, proc id 7890, No Exception
Handler.
16:19:24 Fatal error in ADM VP at mt.c:12516
16:19:24 Unexpected virtual processor termination, pid = 7890, exit = 0x100

16:19:24 PANIC: Attempting to bring system down

Backed up the trace and the 900mb memdump.

So how do I go about notifying Support? I've never done this before.
Don't get me started on the ibm.com website. It usually takes luck and
cunning to find the IDS download each time, a support link that gets me
in touch with the appropriate person is out of my league I'm afraid (I
actually tried).

Running on SLES9SP3 on a HP ML350G3 box (Xeons), i386. I started IDS up
again, it dumped about 12 000 "Dropping temporary TBLspace 0x201639,
recovering 8 pages." lines into online.log, otherwise everything's fine.

I really would not like that to happen again, fortunately I was at the
desk and downtime was less than 2 minutes.

So what should I do now, maybe this is fixed or would anyone point me in
the right direction?

Regards,

According the IBM website, Estonia's support details are here:
http://www.ibm.com/planetwide/ee/.

My guess is that Informix support is covered by IBM UK, in which case by far
the easiest way to raise a call is to email ifmxsup (AT) uk (DOT) ibm.com. You should
also be able to raise calls through the IBM Electronic Service Request tool:
I find it impossible to assiociate my IBM ID with the Passport Advantage
agreements that entitle my customers to support, but I'm told that other
people do manage.

If you gt your Informix support from an Independent Software Vendor though,
you have to contact them.

By the way this looks very, very similar to a bug we get at a customer site.
PMR 436,19999,866. It was fixed I think in FC5, but FC5 and FC6 have new
bugs that are more debilitating than this one to our customer, so we're
waiting now for FC7, due out in the autumn according to the latest update.

Each customer owning a valid PA contract has a technical contact associated
with it. Only this person, using an IBM login ID can associate other logins
from the ibm.com site to his account.

It's a simple process. The worst step is getting the technical contact login
setup. It may require some phone interaction...

I have my personal ID associated with a customer account, and I've helped them
associate other accounts... It's really simple...
If you have any problems you really should contact the PA help team.

Regards.

If you have a valid maintenance contract with IBM the you contact your
local IBM software support centre

http://www.ibm.com/planetwide/

You will need to provide your IBM Customer Number and the person
receiving your call will verify that you have got a contract with IBM.

If you bought the software through a third party your support may be
provided by them rather than IBM.
