Default IDS shutting down by itself - 08-22-2011 , 02:00 PM

This question relates to a Windows 2008 server running IDS 11.70.TC1IE .

I keep getting this message every Monday morning (and other days sometimes) at about the same time in the IDS log:
“ 04:33:07 Service was shut-down externally. “

And then someone from that company has to come in early and restart IDS ..
Their IT staff disavows anything of theirs doing this.

I have turned off the automatic Auto Update Statistics stuff, but this one continues.
Any ideas on what to it could be?

Turn off the scheduler altogether?

To check Art's point, check the uptime for the server? Is there something in the event viewer for the time that IDS shutdown?

I’m very familiar with the old “net stop blah” game since I have done it thousands of times and have used tasks to do that.
But there is nothing set up to do that now.
There could be on another server on the network but we do not have access to those machines – only the Informix server.
The network admin swears that there is nothing running on the network to do that.
I have also looked in “sysadminh_task” and find nothing that would run at those times or do a shutdown.

I feel it is some bug in 11.70.TC1IE .
They will not let me upgrade to TC3 until Oct or Nov when their busy season is over.
Meanwhile they boot 2-4 times a day and the IDS is killed at 4:33 or 4:38 or 4:40 on some days.
I will hang on for awhile until I can upgrade. If that does not fix it then I suppose their admin is mistaken.

Meanwhile, I have scheduled a reboot at 04:45 as a Windows task so the morning whining will stop .

Check the Windows scheduler for a net stop Ids task <replace ids with your informix service name> may be some admin thinks its still a good idea to restart windows services on a weekly base like in old NT days. Also check other machines scheduler, may be someone sends those service stop over the network.
