I got branding error while trying to install informix on solaris environment. Can anyone help me to fix this error???? Could you help us help you? Which version of Solaris? Which version of IDS? Any chance you have a SPARC version of IDS installing on Intel, or vice versa? Have you installed IDS before? Typically, this means there's a problem of some sort with the distribution - if the brand program won't work, neither will the rest of IDS, most often. Merry Christmas! -=JL=- |

Any chance you have a SPARC version of IDS installing on Intel, or vice versa? I would agree with this diagnosis. This is where the installation failed for me when I was installing IDS 10.00.FC2 for IBM Power 5 on Linux on an x86_64 box; you get quite a long way through before it fails. I of course needed IDS 10.00.FC2 on Linux for x86_64. I think what is causing the confusion here is the version numbering, which just uses 'F' for 64-bit regardless of platform. Can I make a suggestion that different letters are used for different platforms (hardware/OS combination) since only 'U', 'F' and 'H' are used at present? Ben. |
