Chavan,

This is the link I have for the Forrester report and it worked for me just
this AM. If you are using a different link, let me know and I'll have IBM
check it out.

The only think I noticed is that, unusually, it downloaded to my browser's
downloads list/folder silently except for the <download complete> notice
from the web site itself and I had to go looking for the file there.

Ho hum...

Here's a key paragraph:
This study illustrates the financial impact of adopting Informix database software for a distributed global retailer with 4,000 instances of Informix located throughout the globe.
In conducting in-depth interviews with a large global retailer using Informix for transactional retail applications, Forrester found examples of howInformix delivered key benefits across the organization within three key benefit areas:
-=-

So, Forrester was paid to do this study against one customer who has 4,000 global retail locations. Hmmm I wonder who that could be. ;-)

What is also interesting are the following quotes:
Costs. The incremental cost to migrate to the Informix platform included the overall cost of license and annual maintenance, cost of upfront implementation and hardware, as well as the cost of ongoing support over a threeyear time horizon.

The key issue is that with 70% of the cost being in Software licensing, YMWV because of software license discounting.
Assume that you paid twice as much for the software. It could mean that youwill have a longer time to value. So instead of a 2 year time to start paying off, this could take 4+ years.

Hey! I'm just trying to put this in to perspective.
What's interesting is that this "unnamed" retailer actually let itself be used even without a name.

But what do I know? Its not like I haven't seen their discount rate (oops Ihad albeit 6+ years ago)...
