Our IDS 10.00.FC11 instances were working on IBM P570 with AIX 5.3 and
DS4800 storage, then we change only the controllers to DS5300 (thus
preserves the same disk configuration) will notice an improvement in
access I / O, reduction of time in the processes and checkpoints lower
but when we Install de IDS 10.00.FC11 and copied the configuration
files and startup the instances in the new partitions of servers P770
with AIX 6.1 were increased checkpoints and daily process took over
more time.

On the P7 machines, you have to disable processor folding and increase the
IO queue depth from the default of 8 to at least 64. If you are using
COOKED filesystem files for chunks make sure that the filesystems have been
mounted with the "noaccess" flag set. With these changes you should see
performance return to at least what you were seeing on the P5 machine.

What is your new hardware configuration? You state your in a new partition
but it may have less resources allocated then what you had prior to your
conversion. There are some suggestions already posted to the groups but I
would start with resources assigned, then have the AIX support guys review
environment and tuning items see if there is something custom which may need
to be moved forward to your new install.

Oh, another thing that Erik's post reminded me of: I hope you were not
convinced to replace N P5 cores with N/4 P7 cores because the saleman
counted the hardware threads as equivalent to a full core! They are not.
If you did that then you are now running on somewhere between half and a
quarter of the CPU power you used to have.
