Default et_ee.utf8 collation support - 01-10-2012 , 05:08 AM

Hi,

I have problems understanding how informix handles utf locales and specifically collations. I have a few en_us.utf8 databases but want to order by in an et_ee collation order, but not only.

The GLS manual mentions International Components for Unicode [1] however I can't figure out how to use ICU. ICU is supposedly bundled with GLS, is it not supposed to provide various utf8 locales?

ILS [2] provides an et_ee locale but that is for iso-8859-15 or -13 afaik. Or would ILS enable et_ee.utf8 too?

And where to get ILS? It's supposedly bundled with the CSDK, but not the CSDK developer edition nor the one shipped with Informix, is this true?

I also found the env variable GL_USEGLU [3] though I'm not quite sure what converting the databases does. The conversions failed with -211 and -103 on my test system. I could create a new database however could not spot the advantage of using a GL_USEGLU database.

So how do I get to use an et_ee.utf8 locale/collation on my en_us.utf8 database?
